Configuring your microphone on your computer
To verify that your microphone is working properly on your computer:
- For Windows:
- Connect the microphone to your computer.
- Go to your computer's Start Menu.
- Select “Control Panel”.
- Click on “Hardware and Sound”.
- Click on “Manage Audio Devices”.
- You will see a recording tab and a microphone sound level meter. Use this meter to check that your voice is being captured by the microphone properly.
- If your microphone is not working, check your microphone's installation guide. Some microphones have a driver on a CD that you have to install on your computer to make them work.
- For Mac OS:
- Connect the microphone to your computer.
- Go to your Apple menu.
- Select “System Preferences”.
- Click on the Sound icon and select “Input”.
- Your microphone should be listed. Click on it.
- Talk into your microphone and see if the Input Level bar jumps up and down.
- If your microphone is not working, check your microphone's installation guide. Some microphones have a driver on a CD that you have to install on your computer to make them work.
