Learning words (vocab quiz)

50% of your progress on EnglishCentral is made by proving your vocabulary knowledge in the video flashcard quiz application.

To learn a word in the quiz, you must get two quiz cards correct for that word. Three consecutive mistakes on the same word removes it from the quiz for that session, so you can come back to study it again. To “master” a word, you must successfully learn it five times over increasingly longer periods of time.

Our system automatically manages your words so that you can practice and prove your long-term knowledge of them at just the right time. Learning words at increasingly longer periodic intervals enhances your ability to retain them in your long-term memory.
